Havenlock Names Jason Lutz Senior Vice President of Sales and Channel Ahead of the Haven Gen4 Rollout

Havenlock, a Veteran Ventures Capital Fund I portfolio company and developer of commercial access control for dealers, facility leaders and communities, has named Jason Lutz Senior Vice President of Sales and Channel. Lutz reports to Chief Commercial Officer John Heller and oversees sales strategy, channel development and partner engagement, including the build-out of Havenlock's national dealer network and its channel programs for distributors, dealers and systems integrators.
Lutz began in the security industry in 1992 in sales with a national security company in Houston, then spent a decade in Nashville owning and operating his own security company. He joined Resideo (then Ademco and Honeywell) in 2002 as district manager for the Midwest and stayed 24 years, with leadership roles in National Accounts and Industry Affairs and, most recently, as director of Resideo's Brand Ambassador Program for developing security sales professionals. He has served on the boards of the Electronic Security Association and the Security Industry Alarm Coalition, on the Alarm Industry Communications Committee and the Security Industry Association Executive Advisory Board, and he chairs Mission 500, a nonprofit supporting children and communities in need.
"Haven has built a lot of momentum, and we're entering a phase where scaling our channel is increasingly important," said Alex Bertelli, Havenlock's founder. "Jason brings a decade of experience owning and operating a security company."
"Haven is delivering solutions that address real security needs with the installer in mind," Lutz said. "I look forward to working with our partners and customers to expand our reach."
The appointment is one of several leadership and channel moves Havenlock has made this year ahead of the Haven Gen4 rollout, following John Heller's appointment as Chief Commercial Officer in August and Phil Leverette's addition to the board in July. Havenlock is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, and Veteran Ventures Capital invested in the company through Fund I.
VVC's view: a hardware company earns its channel before it earns its scale, and this is the hire that builds one. Gen4 is designed to work with the access control platforms dealers already install, so the sale runs through the people Lutz has spent three decades alongside, from his own Nashville company to Resideo's dealer programs. We expect the next announcements from Havenlock to be about who is taking Gen4 to market rather than what it does.
