Phase Four Secures $4.26M in AFWERX Funding for Cutting-Edge Propulsion Technology Development

Veteran Ventures satellite propulsion portfolio company, Phase Four, was selected by AFWERX, an innovation arm of the Department of Air Force (DAF) powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), for a Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) contract in the amount of $4.26M. Addressing a pressing DAF challenge, the Phase Four team will focus on developing a next generation propellant decomposition chamber for propellant agnostic propulsion.

“We are proud of the Department of the Air Force’s continued support and recognition of Phase Four’s leadership in developing American-made satellite propulsion systems with high performance and propellant-agnostic capabilities,” said Phase Four’s Vice President of Advanced Development and Air Force veteran, Jason Wallace.

Phase Four will work closely with AFRL's teams towards developing the chamber. This is representative of a unique partnership between AFWERX, AFRL, and industry to accelerate the development of promising technologies and innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.

Phase Four was founded in 2015 to provide advanced propulsion systems to satellite constellations. Last year the company unveiled a new engine for Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations with domestically sourced iodine-based propellant.
