Phase Four Secures a Coveted Spot in the Hyperspace Challenge
Veteran Ventures satellite propulsion portfolio company, Phase Four, announced their selection as one of six companies (and one of three U.S.-based companies) to participate in the U.S. Space Force’s Space Rapid Capabilities Office Hyperspace Challenge.
The 2023 Hyperspace Challenge focuses on technologies to improve spacecraft resiliency, including autonomy, maneuverability, and situational awareness. Phase Four’s novel radio-frequency propulsion systems, which recently reached performance parity with legacy Hall Effect Thrusters at a fraction of the cost, is key to rapid reaction to on-orbit threats and maneuver without regret.
Veteran Ventures is looking forward to seeing how Phase Four will integrate their capabilities with other awardees towards creating ground-breaking resiliency and operations for constellation operators. The news of Phase Four’s selection to the Hyperspace Challenge accompanies recent announcements of Phase Four’s next-generation Maxwell radio-frequency thruster being demonstrated on a commercial satellite, and a AFWERX Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) award of $4.6M focused on developing a propellant decomposition chamber for propellant-agnostic electric propulsion.
